Book promotion of “Hodočašće Ilije Ilića” (The Pilgrimage of Ilija Ilić)

May 2026. The Radović Foundation carried out its largest support to date in the field of supporting Serbian culture and tradition through assistance in the publication and organisation of the promotion of the book “Hodočašće Ilije Ilića” (The Pilgrimage of Ilija Ilić) by Miodrag B. Ilić.

On 23 May 2026, in the Parish House at the Church of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius in Sečanj, a ceremonial promotion of this exceptional publication took place. The hall was full and the atmosphere deeply emotional. The book was discussed by the author Miodrag B. Ilić and Miodrag R. Mija Ilić. Fragments were read by the actor Nikola Ugrinović, and the entire meeting was moderated by Marko Radović. The event took place with the blessing of Father Ivan Mučalov and to the accompaniment of the secondary-school choir.

The book tells the true, almost incredible story of Ilija Ilić – a Serbian volunteer who covered more than 27,000 kilometres in order to join the Serbian army on the Salonika front. It is a story of faith, courage and love for the homeland which, through the history of one man, preserves the memory of an entire nation.

We extend our special thanks to the author, Miodrag B. Ilić, who, through the story of his great-grandfather, not only saved a family history but also preserves and passes on the history of our nation.
