First Student Exchange Sečanj, Serbia – Katowice, Poland; Part 1

April 2026. The student exchange between the Secondary School “Vuk Karadžić” in Sečanj and the Silesian Technical Scientific Institutes in Katowice, which took place from 23 to 28 April 2026, remains the largest undertaking of the Radović Foundation to date.

It was never only an educational programme. It became a living encounter of people, cultures and hearts — a space in which friendship, mutual understanding and a deep sense of community could take root.

The first day opened with a formal welcome in Katowice. In the presence of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Serbia Ranko Tomović, the Director of the Silesian Technical Scientific Institutes Ireneusz Boczek, a representative of the City of Katowice, Dr Magdalena Kolka, and Marko Radović, an agreement on cooperation between the schools was signed. A warm reception followed at the headquarters of Fujitsu, where students and teachers from both countries began to get to know one another. The day closed with a visit to NOSPR — one of the most beautiful concert halls in Europe — which marked a symbolic beginning of the shared journey.

On the second day the group travelled to Kraków. At the Jagiellonian University, by the Department of Serbian Language and Literature, the students from Sečanj presented their homeland, their municipality and their school. The meeting with Polish professors and students became an opportunity for dialogue and for quiet pride in their own identity. Special thanks go to Professor Dorota Gil, who welcomed the guests and opened the doors of the department to both students and teachers.

Together they then walked through the historic heart of Kraków, visited the Royal Castle on Wawel Hill and descended into the Wieliczka Salt Mine — a site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Already in those first days the most important things were visible: the joy of meeting, openness, curiosity about the other person, and a readiness to build bridges.

It is precisely these simple, human moments, filled with mutual respect, that form the true value of the exchange.

Radović Foundation – we build bridges of knowledge, culture, spirit and friendship between Poland and Serbia.
