November 2025. Beginning of the renovation campaign of the monument and crosses at the prisoners of war cemetery in Łambinowice**

The Radović Foundation has joined an important campaign to renovate the monument and crosses at the Old Prisoners of War Cemetery in Łambinowice – the resting place of Serbian prisoners of war from the times of the First and Second World Wars. At the Old Prisoners of War Cemetery in Łambinowice, in addition to Serbs, prisoners of other nationalities also rest – including Russians, Romanians, Italians, French, British and Belgians.

The meeting began with the laying of a wreath at the monument to the Serbian prisoners and talks with the management of the Central Museum of Prisoners of War (https://www.cmjw.pl/). Together, a fundraising campaign was planned for the conservation of the common monument and approximately 260–293 grave crosses. The results of the collection for the calendar year 2026 will be published in November 2026.

This action has a profound dimension. It is not only about stone and conservation. It is about honouring memory, preserving history and restoring the names of all prisoners of war to religious and liturgical life. Thanks to the renovation, their graves will once again be readable, and the memory of those who died far from their homeland will remain alive for future generations.

A special role in this initiative is played by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Serbia Ranko Tomović, under whose patronage the campaign is being conducted. His involvement, consistency and support constitute a key element of the entire undertaking.

Mr Consul led a full campaign to renew the monuments and crosses at this cemetery already 12 years ago. Renovation is needed periodically – due to the material (sandstone) as well as the surroundings of the cemetery in a pine forest, where moisture and atmospheric conditions systematically destroy the stone, as confirmed by experience from previous conservations carried out, among others, in the years 2014–2016.

This visit and the initiated campaign became an inspiration for launching the most ambitious project of the Radović Foundation – the mapping of all cemeteries and memorials of Serbian prisoners of war in Poland. For this purpose a dedicated website was created: https://raskrsce.org/.
