April 2026. Memory, farewell and commitment. The last two days of the exchange combined a profound historical experience with the emotional closing of the shared time and the opening of a new chapter of cooperation.

The participants visited Auschwitz-Birkenau, a place that remains forever a warning and a call to responsibility for memory. They then toured the Queen Louise Mine in Zabrze, learning about the mining heritage of Silesia.

A formal farewell took place at the Silesian Technical Scientific Institutes. Students and teachers from both schools still had the opportunity to deepen their relationships, talk about possibilities for further cooperation and a shared future. Emotions were strong – it was clear that bonds had been formed that do not end with departure.

A special moment of the entire undertaking was the visit to Łambinowice – the site of a former camp and prisoners-of-war cemetery from the times of the First and Second World Wars. Approximately 300 Serbs rest there.

The participants paid homage to their memory and sang the famous Serbian song “Tamo daleko”, which symbolises longing for a distant homeland, the pain of exile and the sacrifice of those who died far from home – while at the same time carrying hope and an indestructible love for the land of their fathers.
